This is so strange and should be simple:
1. My spouse paid self employment tax in December 2023.
2. Now I would like to ensure that the tax calculation accounts for the same
3.There is no place where turbo tax checks or asks a question about already paid SE tax
Interestingly, I tried to use the estimated tax section, and I can enter the paid tax, however it does not explain anywhere that I should be using this section to account for SE tax that is already paid!
There is no help or explanation available anywhere. Very frustrating.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
When you send a payment for expected SE tax, it is considered an Estimated Tax payment.
That's how you report it.
There is a line for other payments, such as yours, but TurboTax will not let you access it.
Yes you just enter the estimated payments. It's not broken out for self employment tax. It goes against all the tax on your return including the SE Tax.
