How long should I keep my TurboTax disks?

I've kept the TurboTax disks in my cabinet for many years.  What do I need to keep?

Only the last 4 tax years are supported so the 2012 and earlier are totally useless now.

Make sure you saved each year as a pdf file and have them on an external backup like a flash drive or burn all the tax files to a CD or DVD.  You tax returns should be in you Documents then in a Turbo Tax folder.  I would copy that whole folder to the flash drive or burn it.  Your tax returns end in .tax2014, .tax2015, .tax2016, etc.  Before 2008 they all just ended in .tax.  In 2008 they started adding the year to them.  And you should have saved them also as pdf files so you don't need the program to open them.
