How frequent should I do my taxes? I'm new to the US and this will be my first time. I'm married but my wife is unemployed.

You will file an Individual US Income Tax Return each year. They are typically due on April 15th, but some years there are exceptions due to holidays. This year, the tax filing deadline is April 18, 2017.
