You cannot file your tax return until you have received all of your W-2s, 1099s, and other tax documents. Your employers have until February 1 to send you your W-2s. All of your W-2s and 1099s must be entered on a single tax return.
The IRS will start accepting 2022 tax returns sometime in late January. They have not yet announced the exact date. TurboTax will let you "e-file" in early January, but your tax return will not really be filed. TurboTax will just hold it until the IRS begins accepting returns. Nothing will be done with it before then. If you submit it early, be aware that you can't cancel it or get it back to make changes or corrections if you find that you made an error or left something out.
@jasminemd1994 DO NOT RUSH!!!! in fact, what is your rush?
What these board demonstate each year are those who rush are the same that have to amend because they forgot something..... that will delay the refund!!!!!
While the IRS will begin accepting in late January as stated above, for certain tax benefits (e.g. Child Tax Credit, EITC), they are not permittted to send out refunds until mid-February in any event.
Why the rush?
@jasminemd1994 another thing to consider is adjusting your withholding and estimated tax payments so you end up with a minimal refund or might even owe a bit but no penalties.
