Follow the instructions below to enter your premiums and we’ll check to see if you qualify for any deductions:
I got a 1095-A from Healthcare.gov or a state marketplace
I paid COBRA premiums and the policy is in a former employer's name
I paid health insurance premiums and the policy is in my name and not from a Marketplace
That would be entered on the SCH C. Elect to start/update Business Income & Expenses (SCH C) and work it through to the "Your [BusinessName] Business" screen. Elect to start/update Other Common Business Expenses. Then elect to update Health Insurance Premiums and enter it there.
Note that your business *MUST* show a profit in order for your health insurance premiums to be deducted as a business expense. Additionally, the insurance plan must be under the auspices of the business to qualify as a business deduction.
If your business does not show a profit, or if the plan is not a business type plan, then your health insurance costs are a SCH A deduction. Click the "learn more" link next to "Health Insurance Premiums" for more information.
