When attempting to transmit return, receive message about child credit which we did not claim but Federal taxpayer information forms are displayed, how do we overcome this glitch?

I discovered the answer after a detailed review of worksheets.  Apparently the software carried a previous year's occupation of "disabled" on my spouse and assumed we would want to file for the EIC without questioning us or examining our income.  When i changed the occupation to "retired", the issue resolved and the EIC dropped off.  That is a software failure which needs correction.
