You cannot transfer information from a PDF of a 2019 TurboTax tax return into your 2020 tax return.

If you used the CD/Download TurboTax software for 2019, you need the .tax2019 data file in order to transfer information into your 2020 tax return. The .tax2019 file is not a backup. It's the primary storage of your 2019 tax return.

If you used TurboTax Online for 2019, start your 2020 tax return in the same TurboTax Online account that you used for 2019 (the exact same user ID). It will automatically transfer the information from your 2019 tax return.
