How do I split my returns? Want to efile Federal, mail State. Turbo wants to efile them all.

Turbo Tax advised me to mail my state taxes in because they require a note of explanation....  But the program is not giving me a choice to separate the Fed and State for efile.  I am all the way to the final "file" button and I can't NOT efile my state returns.  There must be a choice somewhere.

near the end of the process there should have been an option under the file tab. = do not e-file my state return now. when you get to transmit your returns you should only see the federal.

This worked for TYs 2022 and prior.  However, I cannot get 2023 Turbotax to give me the option to efile federal and mail state.  I refuse to pay extra to give money to the government.

Yes, you have the option to mail in your State taxes and e-file federal. When you get to the file section of the program you are able to select e-file for your federal and print and mail in your state return.

OR

Go to FILE and it will bring you to the beginning of the e-file process. Even though you already e-filed the federal, click the radio button that says you want to mail it. Follow each successive window (don't worry it won't let you print the Federal for mailing file) and it will ultimately get to the state
