How do i request extention for filing after printed return and irs expects me to mail it I do not have all items to mail right now. Moved June 1 after i completed return due to tornado

Log into the program, scroll down and click on add a state, then once you get in the program look to the left on the black menu bar for file an extension.

if you owe, the money is due to IRS fed by midnight tonite.  you mail your extension with payment, if due, you do not include your return.   if no money due to be safe just mail the extension. it too must be postmarked by midnite tonite.

there are some websites that will allow you to e-file your extension for free.    if payment is due they may offer payment options if needed.
