How do I report a Harpta tax refund in Turbo Tax Deluxe?

Harpta is a Hawaii state income tax refund.  You will enter that under the "Income" tab.  

1. Scroll to "Other Common Income"
2. "Show More"
3. "Start/revisit" the "Refund received from State/Local tax returns"
4. "Yes"
5. Enter your refund information

Depending on whether or not you itemized deductions in the year you originally paid those taxes, some or none of that refund may be taxable. 

If you used the standard deduction in that year, none of the refund will be taxable.  If you itemized, TurboTax will guide you through an interview to determine the taxability.
