How do I remove my dependant without changing my filing status to Single?

What do you mean? If you do not have a dependent you cannot have Head of Household filing status. You could only file as Single if you are not legally married.

are you the custodial parent who has given the exemption to the noncustodial parent by providing form 8332

if so that's what you must indicate when going through the interview process which means not deleting the dependent's info. this may not be available in the free edition you are using.
