The TurboTax online editions are only for tax year 2023.
To complete and file a 2021 tax return using TurboTax you would need to purchase, download and install on a personal computer one of the 2021 desktop editions from this website - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
A 2021 tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed using TurboTax.
Sorry, Online is only for 2023 now. Online for 2022 and prior is closed now so you can not start a new 2021 or prior return or finish one. You have to do each year separately

You have to print and mail prior year returns. When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state.
Hello. I am a paid tax preparer. Tax laws, standard deductions, credits, etc. depend on the tax year. Those in the 2023 program would not be correct for calculating taxes due in 2021. Furthermore the IRS would use the 2023 return and automatically look up 2023 W-2's, not 2021. They would not match what you put in your return, and would result in errors and, quite possibly, generate IRS tax penalty letters for the incorrect calculations (not an audit).
It is easy to do 2021 taxes in Turbo tax, but you need the 2021 TAX YEAR. I have previously bought BRAND NEW Turbo Tax packages for home computers/laptops on Ebay. I just looked and 2021 Turbo Tax BRAND NEW is available from multiple sellers for $19.99 for Turbo Tax DELUXE 2021. You will have to print out your returns, and attach W-2's and other Tax documents, as stated in a previous post. The program will tell you where to mail it, or you can use GOOGLE to find it. Naturally calling the IRS to ask where to mail it is also an option.
I recommend taking the time to "open an IRS.GOV account" for yourself. You can find multiple videos on Youtube showing step-by-step how to do it. There are also videos showing how to look around inside your account. One thing I use to help clients with older taxes is "WAGE AND INCOME TRANSCRIPT". This shows each piece of information that the IRS knows about you: Each separate W-2, 1098 mortgage interest you paid, 1099-INT for any interest you got from banks, etc. I found one on myself for which I did not get anything in the mail, but it was in my IRS.GOV account. I called my bank and they told me they no longer send them out. I now have to log into my bank account and look for "tax documents". This is becoming a common practice. This is causing many people receive letters from the IRS stating that items were not included on their tax return, and that the return does not match what they have on file...due to your paper tax documents not being sent out any more.
