Enter the information from Form W-2 exactly as it appears. The IRS matches W-2 information from your tax return to the Copy A of Form W-2 filed by your employer. Any inconsistencies will trigger a letter from the IRS seeking an explanation.
If your Box 3 is empty, it is possible that your occupation is not covered by Social Security (certain forms of student employment, members of religious orders, etc.). Do not try to report amounts that were not reported by your employer.
