The state estimated tax payments are entered into the Federal return because the payment is considered a possible itemized deduction.
Use the following steps to go to the section of TurboTax to enter the state estimated tax payments that you made:
The amounts entered will be carried to your state tax return and applied toward your taxes. After you have entered all the payments for one state, you can click the Enter More Payments button to enter the second state.
I have followed your steps, however I am still having trouble when it comes to the "Enter More Payments" section.
When I add another line I am able to fill in the state and amount paid correctly, however when I enter the date paid I get an error, which reads "cannot be before 01/01/19." This does not make sense, as all my estimated tax payments for the 2019 year were paid in 04/19 at the earliest. I believe it is a bug in the software. I am using the website version if that makes a difference. I was wondering if there is a workaround or if Turbotax is actively working to fix the issue. Thanks.
Be sure that you are entering the date in the following format MM/DD/YYYY. Abbreviating the year to only 2 digits seems to be the cause of the issue when I tried to recreate it.
Thanks for sharing that you were using the online version.
That worked, thank you!
