If you have a 2018 tax data file in the Documents/TurboTax folder then when the 2019 program is opened and a new 2019 tax return is started the software gives you a list of all the found 2018 tax data files that can be transferred to the 2019 return. If there is no 2018 tax data files available in the TurboTax folder then nothing will be available to transfer. The 2018 tax data file will have a file extension of .tax2018. Search your hard drive for the data file. If not found and you are using Windows then also look in the Recycle Bin.
Only a 2018 tax data file can be transferred to the 2019 tax return.
