How do I go back and edit our mortgage principal balance?

If you haven't filed your return yet, follow these steps to check your mortgage balance entries:

  1. Click on Federal > Deductions & Credits
  2. In the Your Home section, click on the Start/Revisit box next to Mortgage Interest, Refinancing, and Insurance (Form 1098).
  3. On the screen, Here's your 1098 info, click Edit next to your mortgage.
  4. Continue through the screens until you reach  Tell us about your loan balances.
  5. You'll be able to enter/check your entries for Original Loan Balance and the Balance on January 1, 2019.
