How do I get turbotax file ftom my desk top to alternately work on my laptop using the same turbotax application on the laptop?

You have to copy the .tax2018 file from your desktop to your laptop. After you make changes on the laptop, you have to copy it back to the desktop. It's up to you to keep the tax return file synchronized on both computers. TurboTax is not designed to have two computers share one tax return file.

Don't run the program on both computers at the same time on the same file, you shouldn't have any problem with a network-shared file. Not sure Windows  even permits you to do that..
