How do I get rid of Form 7205 Request

The issue with Form 7205 (Energy Efficient Commercial Buildings Deduction) is often caused by a "0" stuck in a specific business expense field, which triggers the form requirement even if you aren't claiming the credit.

Instead of just deleting the form, you must clear the input field that is generating it.

  1. Go to Business Expenses > Other Common Business Expenses.
  2. Look for the category "Energy Efficient Buildings".
  3. Click Update or Edit. If you see a "0" in the amount box, delete it completely so the box is totally blank. Do not enter "0.00" or a space.
  4. Click Continue and run the Smart Check again.

These directions work. The glitch is a software problem. Every category in business deductions is automatically filled with a 0 / zero by TT software. The only lines that have numbers are the ones that I entered. TT should either stop pre-filling every line with a 0 or set the software to not trigger a request for Form 7205 with a 0 for that item.
