How do I get 2018 upgrade for my 2017 Turbotax version?

I have the Desktop 2017 version. There was no upgrade for 2018 that I could find.

Do I have to buy a whole new 2018 version?

Unfortunately, yes.

The TurboTax programs for 2017 and 2018 are completely separate programs, so you will need to purchase the 2018 version to complete your taxes.
