Did you use the IRS non-filers website to register for the stimulus and now are actually trying to e-file a 2019 tax return? If so, see this TurboTax support FAQ for how to proceed - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-topics/help/stimulus-how-to-file-your-return-after-getting-rej...
could you have done a non-filers filing for the stimulus? it really doesn't matter. either you or someone else filed a return using your SSN. your only option is to paper file and include a letter that states that the previous filing was not done by you. if you did a non-filers filing proceed as follows:
the Economic Impact Payment’s Non-Filers tool was not intended for use by taxpayers who also needed to file a tax return with the IRS for tax year 2019. If you used the Non-Filers tool to register for an Economic Impact Payment, you cannot now file your tax return electronically. You must complete and print a paper 2019 Form 1040 or 1040-SR tax return, write “Amended EIP Return” at the top, and mail it to the IRS. If you owe tax, you should pay it in full by the July 15 due date. Interest will be charged after July 15 on any amounts that are not paid by July 15. For more information, visit thehttps://www.irs.gov/newsroom/amended-eip-return
if you did not file using the no-filers option and you believe you were the victim of identity theft include form 14039. carefully follow TT filing instructions and I would use a method where you get proof of delivery.
If it wasn't for filling out the non-Filer website, could someone claim you as a dependent like your parents? Or someone might have accidentally typed your ssn by mistake. There is no way to know who filed or what happened. And the IRS won't tell you. You probably will have to print and mail your return.
How to mail a return from the Online version
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state.
Important! Mail Federal and State in separate envelopes and mail each year in separate envelopes.
