 Most states, unlike the feds,  do NOT treat capital gains as anything other than ordinary income. Whatever capital loss you have on the federal return will only change your AGI that transfers to the state return.

Look at the capital loss carryover worksheet in your 2015 tax return. It will be in the copy that you printed for your records.
