How do I file on April 18, but pay on April 19?

File on 18th after 5pm and the payment at the earliest would go on the 19th

If you file on the 18th & do not want to pay that day, then you would have to choose to pay by check. You would not be able to pick a date past the 18th by direct debit or credit card. Then you can pay online at the IRS website or if you owe State you can pay on their website. Or, you can mail your check with the payment voucher.

Please note that to avoid a penalty & interest taxes owed must be paid in full by April 18, 2017.
