I did that and I do qualify for the HOH status.
I should've mentioned that my husband used to have an itin and it expired this past December. We cannot renew it until he gets a new passport, and has been unable to do because of covid-19 shutting down the agencies in mexico.
Turbo tax asks for his personal info and ssn (itin). I'm afraid if I put that expired itin on there, that it'll delay my tax refund and/or get denied because of such expired itin.
You can use the ITIN in the program. On your federal tax return, when filing as Head of Household, your spouse's name and ITIN are not entered on the federal return.
Select Married and then filing separately. Enter your dependents. The program will ask several questions to determine if you are eligible for Head of Household.
