How do I file for federal if I did not earn any taxable income last year?

You do not need to file a tax return since you do not have any reportable income.  

However, if you did Not receive the 3rd stimulus payment in 2021 of $1,400 then you can file to get the Recovery Rebate Credit on the 2021 tax return.

If you are filing just to collect the stimulus payment, you will simply take the following steps:

• Create an account
• Fill out your personal info
• Enter $1 for taxable interest (this is found in the income section under 1099-INT)
• Continue through your return until the federal review section.  
• Enter $0 for the amount received (BE SURE YOU DID NOT RECEIVE THE STIMULUS FIRST)
• continue through to submit your return.
