How do i file a federal return after receiving an extension?

File the same as if you were filing without an extension. The extension will keep you from paying a penalty for being late, as long as you file before October 15, 2021.

Just finish filing as normal. You can efile until Oct. 15, 2021. If you are getting a refund there is no penalty for filing late. If you have a tax due the payment was still due on May 17.
