How do i ensure the use of form 1040 instead of the 1040a

Not sure why you think that is important. When you enter your information TurboTax selects theta return form that is appropriate for the data you enter, whether it is a 1040EZ, 1040A or 1040. Any of these are totally valid tax return forms to use.
