How do I deal with filing an additional extension of time?

I am filing my grandson's first individual federal and state return.  His parents' tax preparer filed their return for 2020 erroneously claiming him as a dependent.  When I filed his CORRECT 2020 return it was rejected.  His parents' AMENDED 2020 return was then filed.  IT HAS NOT YET BEEN ACCEPTED BY THE IRS.   I also filed a time extension on his initial 2020 return until October 15, 2021.  What do I need to do, considering the IRS's delay in accepting his parents' amended return?

First there are no second extensions  and he doesn't need one ... no matter when they filed the amendment he will never be able to efile the 2020 return ... he must mail it in and he can do so now.
