How do i claim my fiance's nieces

My fiancé and 1 took in her two nieces last march and I want to claim them on my taxes. How do I do that?

A non-relative has to live in your home for the entire year before you would be able to claim them as dependents, among other requirements.

I thought it had to be at least 6 months?
