If you do not have a HUMAN qualified dependent, you cannot file as Head of Household.   Your filing status is Single.

If you qualify as Head of Household, when you enter your marital status (single or married filing separately) into MyInfo, and then enter your qualifying dependent, TurboTax will offer HOH as your filing status.

Head of household does not mean “head of the family” or “head of the house” in social terms. It is a special tax status for single parents—either divorced, separated, or single—who keep up a home and provide care for at least one qualifying child dependent in that home. An animal is never a dependent. If you don’t have a dependent child living in your home with you, you can’t file as head of household.
