How come my taxes due went up when I added an asset purchased for work use?

You might have Earned Income Tax credit on the return and when the income goes down, so can the tax credit.

I have never had the Earned Income Tax Credit

There is some credit that being reduced.  What credits were on the return before the additional expense

i dont think any were and the asset added was a computer solely for work use
