How can I see a breakdown of how my refund was calculated? I am trying to see how much was from my children.

Your refund is not broken down by how much you "get" for each dependent.

There are several child-related credits you *may* get if you have dependent children----you  can look at those on your Form 1040.

2021

Child Tax Credit line 28

Credit for Other Dependents line 19

Earned Income Credit line 27a

Additional Child Tax Credit line 28

Child and Dependent Care Credit line 20

And you might be getting the 3rd EIP payment for dependents you claimed.   That will be on line 30.

Thank you for the response. And I apologize in advance for my ignorance in understanding the 1040 form. So I see the tax credit in box #28, is the amount in box #31 the amount being refunded for the cost of their care?

I assume so because they appear to be added together for box #32.

Yes line 31 is from Schedule 3.  It could be from line 13g for care expenses
