You cannot change the tax year. The current online program is for 2025 only. Only a 2025 return can be prepared online and only a 2025 return can be e-filed.
Online preparation and e-filing for 2022, 2023, and 2024 is permanently closed.
Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.
To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2022, 2023, or 2024 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
Buy the desktop app. The return can not be e-filed,

I was just told by one of your customer service representatives that I could still e-file my 2024 taxes.

Sorry, you were misinformed. TurboTax closed e-filing of 2024 tax returns after October 15, 2025. The 2024 tax return can only be printed and mailed.
So who is responsible for making sure your tax specialist have the right information? And how do I know who to believe? About a month ago I was told by one of your tax specialist that I could e-file '23 and '24 after the IRS opened back up for tax filing. I held off on paper filing so I could e-file......
@user17698944048 I have been supporting and volunteering with these types of TurboTax forums now for almost 15 years and prior year tax returns have never been able to be e-filed, they can only be printed and mailed.
Thank you!
Do you know of any other tax preparation companies that offer e-filing for late returns? Specifically, '23 and '24?
Only certain paid tax pros using professional tax software can e-file past year returns. You cannot e-file a 2024 return that you prepared yourself using TurboTax. Your 2024 return must be printed, signed and dated in ink, and then you need to mail it in. Use a mailing service like certified mail so you will know the IRS received it, since you will have a longer wait for it to be processed.

@user17698944048 FreeTaxUSA offers an e-file service for prior tax years.
However, as stated on their website - You may be able to e-file 2024-2022 tax returns with an Identity Protection PIN from the IRS. Otherwise, you’ll need to mail them in.
