How can I file from years ago?

To complete and file a prior tax return, 2016 thru 2018, using TurboTax you would need to purchase, download and install on a personal computer one of the desktop editions for each tax year required from this website - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

A prior year tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed.

How many years ago? TurboTax no longer supports years earlier than 2016. If you need to file for 2015 or earlier your choices are to look for other software that is still available for the years you need, go to a tax professional, or download the blank forms and instructions from the IRS web site and do it yourself on the paper forms. You can find prior year forms and instructions at the following link.

if you owe the IRS can come after you forever. if you are due a refund for 2015 or prior, forget it.  under the tax laws refunds for those years have been forfeited.

And just so you know---you cannot receive a refund for any tax return earlier than a 2017 return at this point, even if the tax return shows a refund.  Refunds for tax years earlier than 2017 have now been forfeited.  But if you owe tax due on any of those returns, you still need to pay.

If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline.  If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.
