How can I double check that I included my minor son's income in my 2019 tax return?

My son, then 16, worked a summer job and got a W-2 for wages earned ($1,477.50). Taxes were withheld. I'm filling out a CSS financial aid application for college and it is asking if my son filed a tax return. I answered, "No," and they want him to sign a form saying he wasn't required to pay taxes. Now I'm worried that I made an error. I'm pretty sure I included his income in our married/filing jointly return but I don't know how to verify that. I don't see the amount he earned on any line in my tax return. I'm wondering what to do.

A dependent's earned income is not reported on your tax return.

The dependent child was not required to file a tax return in 2019 if their gross income was less than $12,200 or they did not have self-employment income of $400 or more.

If you put your child's W-2 income on your own tax return that was a mistake.  You are not supposed to do that.  If you did that, you need to amend your own incorrect tax return and remove that income that your son earned.

Your Form 1040 does not show individual W-2's, but the worksheets that are part of the pdf will show the W-2's you entered.  So print out the worksheets and look to see if you put your son's W-2 on your return by mistake.

If your son had a W-2 that showed tax withheld in boxes 2 or 17 then he could have filed his OWN tax return to seek a tax refund.  On that return he would have to say that he can be claimed as someone else's dependent.  He can still do that, in fact, but he cannot use the online program now.  You could get the paper forms and complete them by hand to mail in.

I followed the TurboTax instructions exactly, so probably I did NOT include my son's W-2. Thank you so much for your help!
