House sale question with respect to capital gains exemption: For the last 3 years, I have pretty much been living full time at my house in Alaska. My wife has been residing in Texas. We rent in Texas. We have owned our in Alaska house for 28 years. We plan on selling the house next year. Do I qualify for the $250,000 capital gains exemption? I understand my wife does not because she has not been living in the house for 2yrs of the last 5 years.
