In such cases, what you need to do is (a) request for an extension ( even though you may not need it because being out of the country on April 15th you have till June 15th to file ); (b) prepare your return as follows --on the personal income area , select "I will work on my own", go down the list of income categories till near the end under "other special.." select foreign earned income" --- work through this. -- do not enter your foreign income under W-2 / wages. This will create form 2555 where it will ask you about the days absent from the USA during a 12 month test period -- you need 330 days away from the USA in a continuous 12 month test period. If you test period spans across calendar years then your exclusion will be prorated for the tax year.
Please provide the date when you left the USA, where to etc, your immigration status ( US citizen/ resident /??) which country etc. for a more specific reply
