You do not want to e-file if you have already paper-filed, as this will confuse the IRS and delay the process even more. They may have started processing your return before the shutdown. Although the IRS isn't CURRENTLY processing paper-filed returns, they will start back up once the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

Regarding the stimulus, if you filed in 2018 and otherwise qualified for it based on those income numbers, you will receive it. To check on the stimulus, the IRS rolled out the "Get My Payment" tool here. According to IRS.gov, you can use the "Get My Payment" application to:

  • Check your payment status
  • Confirm your payment type: direct deposit or check
  • Enter your bank account information for direct deposit if we don't have  your direct deposit information and we haven't sent your payment yet.
  • Receive paper check payments: If you moved since you last filed, let us know your new mailing address.
