Hi, I filed my 2017 tax with an extension and I paid $X I owed to State. Where should I had put the $X when filing my 2018 tax, I wrongly had it under extension payment?

You are correct ... on the 2018 return it was NOT a extension payment for the 2018 return so it would not be listed on the 2018 return at all. The 2017 extension payment should have been listed on the 2017 tax return as such.

They are entered under Other Income Taxes ... bypass the estimated payment section ...
Go to:
- Click on Federal Taxes
- Click on Deductions and Credits
- Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
- Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
- On Other Income Taxes, click on the start or update button
