@mistydawn85 What are you trying to file?    It is way too late to e-file a 2020 return---e-filing has been closed for weeks.   And it is way too soon to e-file a 2021 return----e-filing will not open for 2021 until late January.

If you are using the CD/download for 2020 and you are trying to file---you have to file by mail.  That is the only way now to file a 2020 return.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Are you trying to file a 2021 tax return?  If so, it is way to early to file the 2021 return.  The tax year is not even completed and will not complete until after December 31, 2021.  Plus none of the forms and schedules have not been finalized by the IRS nor have you received any of the W-2's or Form 1099's for your 2021 income.

The IRS probably will not be accepting any type of 2021 tax return until late January or early February 2022.
