Head of Household Logic Broken?

I'm the sole breadwinner in my household. I had one dependent who lived with me the entirety of 2022 and no one else. I paid all expenses, and he had no income and will not be filing taxes. No one else can claim him as a dependent. 

After entering this information, TurboTax Free Edition tells me he does qualify as a dependent. However, I can only file with Single status instead of Head of Household status. Clearly, I should qualify as Head of Household. Is the form broken? Not being able to file as HoH will obviously have significant financial implications. Is this a known issue?

If the dependent is not a blood relative you cannot have Head of Household filing status.

Thank you, I found the answer in another chain. I had to update manually using the mobile platform instead of the online version.

If your dependent is not biologically related to you then even if they lived with you the whole year, you can only get the $500 credit for other dependents by claiming them.  You cannot get HOH for claiming a non-relative.

If you qualify as Head of Household, when you enter your marital status (single or married filing separately) into MyInfo, and then enter your qualifying dependent, TurboTax will offer HOH as your filing status.
