It's a TurboTax glitch. If you check the PDF/printed version, you'll probably noticed that whether or not you clicked the radio button for YES or NO on the Enabling Property, TurboTax does not check YES or NO on your actual return for that selection. The IRS rejected it from that.
Thank you bthibs!!!! Had the exact same issue.
****What is TurboTax doing to remedy this glitch?!
Had to manually fill out entire Residential Energy Credit Tax Form 5695! Want my money back for this massive inconvenience! What is the point of using TurboTax if it does NOT properly fill out and check your return accurately?
I'm using the web. How were you able to manually fill it out online, if that's what you used?
I don't understand why specifically March 6. Just fix the software and push it out. I've already waited 10 days since I tried to file, and for such a widespread issue with a multi-billion dollar company, this is unacceptable.
It's now March 6th and it's not fixed. Should I just print the returns and file by mail? This is ridiculous.
Did this get resolved today? Have been waiting to submit our paperwork again, because we were denied initially as well.
Nope. I talked to customer service and they told me to just keep waiting for the fix. It seems they missed the March 6 estimated fix date and are unable to provide a new estimated date.
I also already paid for the online version so I can't switch to desktop and fix the form by hand (I wanted to try selecting "Yes" as the solution mentions). Customer service is not able to fix the form by hand for me either. I'm a software engineer and if just feels like some kind of joke. We have AI and all this technology and neither the software nor a human can check off "Yes" on a simple form for me. I think I'm done with TurboTax after this year, at least the online version. Been a customer for almost 20 years.
I think if it's not fixed by next week I'm going to ask for a purchase refund and have them switch me to desktop version, or export and import into somebody else's software.
There was an update on March 6. Go back through your return, and make any changes as needed, then file your return. If you are using TurboTax Online the program updates automatically.
If you are using TurboTax Desktop make sure all updates have been run on your program. You can do this by clicking on "Online" in the black bar across the top of your TurboTax screen. And then select "Check for Updates".
