Having issues with filing 2023 taxes post extension deadline via desktop app, after doing federal, the state goes in a loop and does not progress forward, any help?

using downloaded desktop app, the state software checks for latest version, gets the ok its the latest version, and continues in a continuous circle and I am stuck in this loop.

Do you mean that you are trying to e-file?   E-filing is permanently closed for 2023 returns.  The only way to file a 2023 return ---federal or state-- now is by mail.  The returns must be printed, signed and dated in ink, and mailed in.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
