Hi, I worked for 3 months in NYC before moving to Boston for the rest of 2021 (Sept-Dec). So I received 2 W2s from my company, the NY one doesn't have anything in boxes 1-13 but it does have boxes 15-20 (it states the NY taxes). Do I need to file two state returns? I also have a 1099-SA from my HSA. Which self-filing product should I use?

Does one of your W-2s say ''corrected''? If you received a corrected W-2 and you already imported or entered your W-2 and you haven't yet filed, go back and edit your W-2 with the corrected info from your W-2c. If it is a corrected W-2C, you will merge the two together and enter one W-2 with all of the information from both W-2s.
Yes, you need two state returns this year: Part-year resident returns for NY and MA. That link will give you some information on how to enter and allocate your tax data for multiple state returns.
Because of the HSA 1099-SA, you won't be able to use the Free Edition - you need Deluxe for any 1099s.
1) You enter only one W-2 form....but down in the state boxes on that one W-2 (boxes 15-17), you will add a second line to put in the extra state information. One state line for MA, and one for NY
2) Can't tell which version you will need.....that all depends on what other stuff is in your taxes. IF it was just the W-2, then the "Free" would work (not sure about the HSA though Dawn-above says Deluxe).
3) Yes, you will need two state tax returns...Part-year NY and part-Year MA.....TTX will kick you into both of those forms once you enter taht you wer in MA at the end of Dec, and moved from NY and date of move. That's when you enter your personal info...name SSN etc.
4) You don't touch either of the state forms until you enter everything in the federal section....every scrap of income, deductions, credits,,,all tax forms etc.

IF using the "Online" software,
a) Deluxe is required if you have enough "itemized" deductions to exceed the Std Ded for your filing status.
b) Premier is required if you have any Stock/Bond/Mutual fund sales, or Crypto sales. Mutual Fund distributions might kick you into Premier too. Also, income from rental, or Farm properties you own require Premier.
c) And, of course, any Self employment income or 1099-NEC forms require the Online SE version.

For Desktop software, you could use Deluxe for all of it. Premier gives a bit mor help, but isn't entirely necessary.
