Got new laptop. If I've itemized for several years for a business, are all previous years tax files needing imported to new laptop?

So since Turbo Tax stopped supporting Windows 10 OS I had to get a new laptop.  :[  I have ALL my tax files on that old laptop.  I've had a camper rental business so it's got the history of that in those tax files from my schedule C's, depreciation info, etc.  So, this question may sound dumb, but I'm honestly not sure if this info transfers from year to year's returns or not.  If it does, then I'd think I'd only need to make sure I import at vey minimum my 2024 tax file.  If this type of info does NOT automatically transfer from year to year, then do I need to import the tax files all the way back to when I started my camper rental business so my 2025 income tax filing is done correctly since it maybe gets accumulative info from my previous year's tax files?

You should only need to import your 2024 tax data file into your 2025 return to have everything that is needed to be transferred to 2025.  There is not a way to import anything earlier into your 2025 return.

But, if I were in the same situation, here is what I would do.  At a minimum, I would keep a copy of all of the tax data files from the old computer on the new computer.  That way they are all in the same place.

Additionally, I would create a PDF of each tax year that includes the tax return and all calculation worksheets.  Then make sure there is a copy of all of these PDF files on the new computer as well.  If you have all the calculation worksheets for a given year, you would be able to trace back to any information you could possibly need to see.

If you did not save this version of a PDF each year, you can go back into TurboTax for the prior years and do it now while you still have the old laptop and programs available.

You also should be able to reinstall the 2022, 2023, & 2024 tax software on the new computer.

2021 and earlier years can no longer be installed.....and 2022 will be dropped sometime later this year, so get the tax years that are available now.
