I got married in July 2021. I am CA resident for 2021. My Wife is from VA and has been working there for the whole year. How should we file our taxes?
Federal- MFJ
State: MFS.

Yes, you seem to have the concept. You will file jointly on your Federal tax return, and separately for the states. This can be a little tricky. I see you have the online version of TurboTax. It would benefit you to get the Desktop CD version..

Thanks for the reply. So we have prepared our taxes. We are filing the federal (MFJ) electronically.
It is mentioned to file the state taxes for VA and CA via email.
So question here is,
Do i have to include the federal tax returns as well while file filing my state returns?
If yes, should I include my MFJ return which I have filed electronically in the state return mailing package?
or should i include the individual mock federal MFS we had prepared to prepare for individual state taxes
You will have to include the federal returns in your efile but TurboTax will attach them for you automatically. You could include either federal return as an attachment.
