Getting nervous about not seeing the changes in 2020 return because of the 10,200 unemployment deduction. When should that take effect?

I was told that if I e-flied (which I did), I wouldn't need to do anything, yet nothing has happened. Should I attempt to amend or wait like what was recommended then?

The IRS will be handling the unemployment compensation exclusion and send a tax refund if you are eligible starting in May.  There is no need for you to file an amended tax return for the exclusion.

ok. but I am figuring that this will go from a payment to a refund. should I go ahead and pay since this won't be resolved until May?
