If my child's father has abandoned him do i need to file form 8332?

Form 8332 is only if you are the custodian parent and want to allow the other parent the right to claim your child as their dependent and get the exemption on their tax return. So if you take care of your child and rightfully get the dependent exemption for that child, and do not want to give that right to the parent that abandoned you child, do not fill out Form 8332.
