Form 2555 Totally Inhibits Me From Filing Taxes

Because I had some foreign income, at the end stage of filing my taxes I was hit by a message saying I needed to fix a certain detail on Form 2555.

1. I was unable to find this form, and was therefore unable to edit it. None of the other discussion post answers led me in the right direction, as I couldn't find the page that asks "would you like to exclude foreign income" to be able to select "no."

2. I used Tools to delete Form 2555, but the error persists.

3. I tried to clear the cache and cookies, and to use a different browser, but none of these removed the error message.

4. It does not allow me to clear and start over.

There seems to be no way to fix the issue. I need help. Thank you.

To clarify, does it mention specifically what the issue is? What's the amount of your foreign income?

This is what it tells me:

Form 2555-T: Total Foreign Earned Income has a value for foreign earned income but dates for the foreign earned income exclusion aren't entered. Form 2555 must be completed including dates for bona fide residence or physical presence for the foreign earned income exclusion to calculate. To complete Form 2555, or to remove indicators that foreign earned income qualifies for exclusion on Form 2555 either on a W-2 or as Other Income on your return, return to Interview and search for 'foreign income'.

My foreign income is not very significant, and it’s Peace Corps income so my first thought is that it shouldn’t be caught up here like this. I went back and tried to add the dates / undo whatever I had done to create form 2555 in the first place, but it didn’t work and I’m stumped.

Try to delete form 2555:

In Turbo Tax Online: 

• Tax tools
• Tools
• Delete a Form
• Look for Form 2555 and delete it and all of the worksheets associated with it

In Turbo Tax Software 

• Go to the forms mode in your program
• Look for form 2555 and all worksheets associated with.  
• Delete the form and the worksheets

I deleted form 2555 and nothing changed for me. I’m not totally sure whether some of these other remaining worksheets are associated with it or not, but they do not appear to be.

Try to delete the remaining worksheets to see if this may alleviate the issue.

I deleted other worksheets including the Earned Income worksheet and Standard Deductions worksheet but that didn’t work either.

If your return is fairly simple, I'd suggest you clear and start over. This may be your only solution at this point. Also you might try contacting TurboTax live help so that they can screenshare with you and develop a solution.
