I just used TT 2025 Mac desktop for preparing my taxes. There is a software bug related to Form 1116. When I look at my "Alt Min Tax" Form 1116 there are two copies: one for passive income and other for general income. The foreign tax credit (FTC) for passive income is computed correctly and reported on Line 27. Another copy is created for general income and the FTC for general income is computed correctly and reported on Line 28. Line 32 correctly reports the sum of Lines 27 and 28 (all other entries from Lines 25 to 31 are nil). Line 33 should report the smaller of Line 20 and Line 32. However, it is reporting a third quantity, namely Line 27. This seems like a software bug. Effectively, I am not getting FTC for general income in my AMT calculations and therefore the draft shows a big AMT amount due. This is clearly wrong. This error does not occur for Form 1116 (non AMT version). Please help.

How do I report this bug to Turbotax? No one from the TT team is paying attention to this bug or even acknowledging it. I don't see any option in the software to report a bug. This is poor customer service.
Can someone from Intuit please escalate this to the developer team. It is frustrating to see such poor customer service from Intuit. When I try to call Intuit to report this bug I am put on hold for 20+ mins and I don't have the time for that. Your software guarantees zero error in computation and this bug clearly makes a mistake and no one bothers to acknowledge it for around a week.
Sometimes the best answer is to delete the form, clear any cache and then re-enter your information to see if it clears an experience such as this.
Use the link below for your version of TurboTax to delete a form.
Close your return and clear any debris in the background.
If you are using TurboTax Desktop, save your return, then at the top select Online, then Check for updates.
Hi @DianeW777 thank you for your response. I appreciate it. I am using the Desktop version (mac) and I followed your instructions to delete Form 1116 Copy 2 (AMT) where the error is occurring. The software deletes and immediately recreates it with the incorrect or erroneous entry. So, unfortunately, deleting the form is not fixing the issue. I have written to support@intuit.com a week ago and have not heard from them. This is pretty bad service from Intuit in my opinion. But thanks for your help.
T o have the developers take a closer look, I suggest ordering a diagnostic file to see if this is a software issue. Here is what I need you to do.
A pop-up message will appear explaining that a "sanitized" diagnostic copy will be created. Click OK or Send to transmit it.
The Token Number: Once the transmission is complete, a 6 or 7-digit Token Number (e.g., 1234567) will appear on your screen. When you get that token number, reply back in this thread and we will take take a look at it.
Thank you @DaveF1006 for your response. I have followed the instructions you sent and a token number has been created. It was not clear from your message if you want me to paste that token number in the thread and if it is safe to do so. Let me know. Thanks.
PS: I had followed these instructions earlier and sent email to the Intuit support email address with the sanitized .tax2025 file attached. But no one has responded to that email.
Yes. Include the token number in this thread. It is safe because no one else will have access to it. Also the file in the token number you send is a sanitized file. Your personal information is not included in the file and all we receive are numbers. All pesonal information is scrubbed clean.
@DaveF1006 here it is. thanks for your prompt response.
Your token number is: [phone number removed]0377
Seems the token number was redacted. I will try again:
Your token number is: 9 9 4 0 0 1 0 2-9 0 1 4 0 3 7 7
Ignore the space between digits. I am hoping this time it won't be redacted.
Thank very much for the token number. I've escalated this to take a further look into this matter. I can't promise a resolution date but we will work to resolve this as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your patience.
Thank you @DaveF1006 , much appreciated.
Hi, replying here in hopes that additional reports help get this treated with the appropriate level of urgency. I am also experiencing the same issue, in my case using Turbotax for web. I can confirm that this is a new bug as of this year, as my tax return is structurally similar to last year's and the Form 1116 line 33 field was entered correctly in my 2024 tax return.
This bug causes a very significant misreporting of my tax due (claiming I owe much more than do). Given there's now two cases of this, who knows how many others aren't even aware that this field isn't being input correctly. Thanks and appreciate any escalating that can be done here.
Edit: I attempted to flag this as well via other venues, like with a tax expert or support, and they will suggest or say anything but acknowledge there may be an issue or do anything to potentially escalate to a development team to look into this.
I am also seeing this issue, when is a fix expected?
Hi @DaveF1006 Appreciate you escalating this issue internally. It's been a month since I first reported the issue. As you may see, others are also facing the same issue, one of them reporting it in the web version as well. Kindly request you to check internally and report when this issue would be resolved, if possible. Some of us are only waiting on this issue to get resolved before getting it reviewed and filing it.
