Forced to pay deluxe for unemployment insurance filing

I was laid off from my job last year and was on unemployment insurance, requiring a 1099-G. Turbotax forced me to pay for Deluxe to process this.

I'm outraged that this is a thing.

Forced to pay deluxe for unemployment insurance filing

Sorry.   Only very simple Form 1040 returns that do not require the use of any other forms or schedules can be prepared using the Free Edition.   A 1099G for unemployment requires the use of extra forms, so you cannot use Free Edition with unemployment income.

In order to use TurboTax you must upgrade to Deluxe.
